WHEREAS, Clarence Stewart Preston, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who passed away recently, left behind a legacy of love and dedication to his family and community; and
WHEREAS, born and raised in Stafford County, Clarence Preston grew up farming alongside his brother and later served his country in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic; and
WHEREAS, Clarence Preston dedicated his career to FMC, Steelpack, and Printpak, finding joy in his work and sharing many stories from his career with his grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Clarence Preston took great pleasure in tending his garden, preparing home-cooked meals, and spending time with his loved ones, particularly cherishing time in the kitchen with family; and
WHEREAS, a passionate bowler, Clarence Preston traveled to numerous bowling events with his beloved wife, Mary, and achieved a perfect 300 game; and
WHEREAS, Clarence Preston was a dedicated member of the 20 Gentlemen, a distinguished local organization focused on the advancement and success of Black men; and
WHEREAS, Clarence Preston touched countless lives through his kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for his family and community; and
WHEREAS, Clarence Preston will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his loving wife, Mary L. Preston; his son, Clarence A. Preston, and daughter-in-law, Sally A. Preston; his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Clarence Stewart Preston, a beloved member of his community whose dedication and love left a lasting impact on those around him; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Clarence Stewart Preston as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
