Celebrating the life of Donald W. Foster, Sr.

WHEREAS, Donald W. Foster, Sr., an honorable veteran and an active and beloved member of the Damascus community, died on February 10, 2025; and
WHEREAS, born in Washington County, Donald Foster served his country with honor and distinction as a member of the United States Marine Corps and received the Purple Heart with two oak leaf clusters for his courage and valor in combat; and
WHEREAS, in his professional career, Donald Foster devoted 44 years to the Columbus McKinnon Corporation, one of the world's leaders in intelligent motion solutions for material handling; and
WHEREAS, Donald Foster gave generously of his time to help others, including by volunteering to feed the unhoused, mentoring young people as a youth basketball and baseball coach, refereeing middle school basketball, and mowing lawns for the elderly and infirm; and
WHEREAS, guided throughout his life by his faith, Donald Foster enjoyed worship and fellowship with his community at First Baptist Church of Damascus for many years; and
WHEREAS, preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Hilda, Donald Foster will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his children, Timothy, Donald, Jr., and Christopher, and their families and by numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Donald W. Foster, Sr., a revered member of the Damascus community whose dedication and legacy of service inspired all who knew him; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Donald W. Foster, Sr., as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
