Commending the Chesapeake Solar and Storage Association.

WHEREAS, the Chesapeake Solar and Storage Association, a trade association representing companies dedicated to providing individuals and businesses with beneficial solar and storage solutions across the Commonwealth, Maryland, and Washington, D.C., celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2024; and

WHEREAS, the Chesapeake Solar and Storage Association was founded on November 19, 1984, and was originally known as the Maryland, DC, Virginia Solar Energy Industries Association; and

WHEREAS, the goal of the Chesapeake Solar and Storage Association and its members is to see the responsible mainstream adoption and integration of solar and energy storage into regional electric grids for the benefit of all consumers; and

WHEREAS, recent policies have buoyed the Chesapeake Solar and Storage Association's industries and helped consumers in the Commonwealth adopt solar for themselves, enabling Virginia to become one of the fastest growing large-scale solar markets; and

WHEREAS, today, as a result of the Chesapeake Solar and Storage Association's efforts, there is more than 6,000 megawatts of solar power in the Commonwealth between residential, commercial-scale, and large-scale solar installations, which is enough energy to power more than 700,000 homes; and

WHEREAS, the Chesapeake Solar and Storage Association's members have created some of the more than 4,900 solar industry jobs that currently exist in the Commonwealth across more than 230 companies, which have collectively attracted more than $7 billion in solar investment; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Chesapeake Solar and Storage Association on the occasion of its 40th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Chesapeake Solar and Storage Association as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for its contributions to the Commonwealth.
