Celebrating the lives of Olivia Eve Ter and Olesya Taylor.

WHEREAS, Olivia Eve Ter and her mother, Olesya Taylor, vibrant members of the figure skating community in the Washington, D.C., area died on January 29, 2025, aboard American Airlines Flight 5342; and
WHEREAS, Olivia Ter was a talented and determined member of Ion Figure Skating Club in Leesburg; she brought joy to coaches and teammates alike through her effervescent smile and infectious laughter, and she relished every opportunity to teach younger athletes how to skate; and
WHEREAS, Olivia Ter had earned gold and silver medals at U.S. Figure Skating National Qualifying Series competitions, and finished fourth in her age division at the 2025 Eastern Sectional Singles Final, earning a trip to the U.S. Figure Skating National Development Camp in Wichita, Kansas; and
WHEREAS, Olesya Taylor had previously pursued a career as a neonatologist while living in Russia; after she married Andrew Ter, and the couple relocated to the United States, where they raised their two daughters, Anne Valerie and Olivia; and
WHEREAS, after settling in the United States, Olesya Taylor became a full-time mother and went above and beyond to support her daughters in all their endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Olesya Taylor was well-known as a devoted friend, who went out of her way to help others in need; she also used her background in medicine as a volunteer at a free clinic for the homeless; and
WHEREAS, Olivia Ter and Olesya Taylor will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by Andrew Ter, Anne Valerie Ter, and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Olivia Eve Ter and Olesya Taylor; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Olivia Eve Ter and Olesya Taylor as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for their memories.
