SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 262

Commending the Arab America Foundation.

Agreed to by the Senate, February 13, 2025

WHEREAS, the Arab America Foundation, a nonprofit, non-sectarian educational and cultural organization based in Washington, D.C., promotes Arab heritage and fosters strong partnerships between Arab Americans and their communities across the nation; and

WHEREAS, for more than a century, Arab Americans have been making valuable contributions to virtually every aspect of American society, including medicine, law, business, education, technology, government, military service, and culture; and

WHEREAS, since migrating to the United States, men and women of Arab descent have shared their rich culture and traditions with neighbors and friends, while also setting fine examples as model citizens and public servants; and

WHEREAS, Arab Americans have brought with them their resilient family values, strong work ethic, dedication to education, and diversity in faith and creed that have strengthened American democracy; and

WHEREAS, Arab Americans have also enriched society by sharing in the entrepreneurial spirit that has made the United States free and prosperous; and

WHEREAS, the Arab America Foundation promotes and celebrates Arab American ancestry and cultural heritage to enrich the lives of their fellow Americans and counter misconceptions, harmful stereotyping, and shared misunderstandings by other ethnic groups; and

WHEREAS, Arab Americans join all of their fellow Americans in the desire to see a peaceful and diverse society, where every individual is treated equally and feels safe; the incredible contributions and heritage of Arab Americans have significantly enhanced life in the United States; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the Arab America Foundation hereby be commended for its services to Arab Americans in the Commonwealth on the occasion of National Arab American Heritage Month; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Arab America Foundation as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the organization's contributions to Arab American communities throughout the Commonwealth and the United States.
