Celebrating the life of Patricia W. Lovelace.

WHEREAS, Patricia W. Lovelace, a beloved mother and grandmother in Richmond who enriched countless lives through her kindness, generosity, and grace, died on August 15, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Patricia “Pat” W. Lovelace grew up in West Virginia and came to Richmond to attend nursing school; and

WHEREAS, Pat Lovelace worked as a nurse at the former St. Elizabeth's Hospital until her children were born, then focused on raising her family and making contributions to the community as a volunteer leader; and

WHEREAS, Pat Lovelace touched the lives of many local youths as a teacher at Old House Play School and Reveille United Methodist Church Preschool, and she was well known by children in her neighborhood as the “cookie lady” for handing out treats from her green cookie jar; and

WHEREAS, Pat Lovelace proudly offered her wise insights to a number of philanthropic organizations, including several Woman's Clubs in the region, and in the early 1970s, she coordinated with her fellow residents of the Carillon neighborhood to establish a beloved local arts festival, Arts in the Park; and

WHEREAS, Pat Lovelace directed Arts in the Park for more than four decades and helped it become one of the top-rated arts shows in the nation, with generations of artists and artisans displaying fine artwork, metalcraft, pottery, weavings, and more to Richmond residents and visitors from around the country; and

WHEREAS, predeceased by her husband, Bob, Pat Lovelace will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her children, Paige, Dawn, Robert, and Scott, and their families, and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Patricia W. Lovelace, a beloved member of the Richmond community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Patricia W. Lovelace as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for her memory.
