Commending Judy Simmons.

WHEREAS, Judy Simmons, a dedicated volunteer with the Danville-based disaster relief organization God's Pit Crew, received the Betty Jane France Humanitarian Award from the NASCAR Foundation at the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing Awards Banquet in Charlotte on November 22, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Judy Simmons has been a member of God's Pit Crew for six years, leading teams in their efforts to provide essential items to children and families following natural disasters; and

WHEREAS, Judy Simmons and God's Pit Crew have been a valued lifeline to countless individuals and families, bringing them solace and comfort in their time of need; and

WHEREAS, in 2024, Judy Simmons was actively involved in God's Pit Crew's programs in Western North Carolina following the devastation of Hurricane Helene; and

WHEREAS, Judy Simmons was selected for the 14th annual Betty Jane France Humanitarian Award after garnering the most fan votes among four finalists, and the NASCAR Foundation will donate $100,000 to God's Pit Crew as part of her honor; and

WHEREAS, as a result of her unwavering commitment to helping others in their most vulnerable and challenging times, Judy Simmons has earned the praise and admiration of all Virginians; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Judy Simmons for receiving the 2024 Betty Jane France Humanitarian Award from the NASCAR Foundation; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Judy Simmons as an expression of the General Assembly's high regard for her legacy of service and best wishes in her future endeavors.
