Celebrating the life of Robert Evans Talbott.

WHEREAS, Robert Evans Talbott, a courageous firefighter with Chesterfield Fire and EMS who touched countless lives over the course of his long and distinguished career, died on December 20, 2024; and
WHEREAS, Robert Talbott grew up in Southside Virginia, where he graduated from Blue Stone High School and earned the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America in his youth; and
WHEREAS, after receiving a degree in fire science from Danville Community College, Robert Talbott began a fulfilling career in public safety; he served with the Danville Fire Department from 1996 to 2004 and was honored as a life member of the Danville Life Saving Crew; and
WHEREAS, Robert Talbott had proudly served with Chesterfield Fire and EMS for 20 years, during which time he was stationed in the communities of Chester, Midlothian, Dale, Rivers Bend, Matoaca, Bon Air, and Swift Creek; and
WHEREAS, Robert Talbott achieved the rank of lieutenant in 2017 and was most recently assigned to Engine 224 at Fire Station 24 on Courthouse Road; and
WHEREAS, Robert Talbott was highly admired for his calm, reassuring demeanor and he was a trusted friend and mentor to countless younger firefighters, who benefited from his decades of wisdom and experience; and
WHEREAS, among many awards and accolades, Robert Talbott was recognized as Firefighter of the Year by the Danville Fire Department in October 2002 and received a Unit Life Save Award from Chesterfield Fire and EMS in October 2023 for helping to rescue five people from a burning apartment in October 2023; and
WHEREAS, Robert Talbott will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of nearly 30 years, Carol; his children, Austin, Evan, and Amanda, and their families; and numerous other family members, friends, and fellow firefighters; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Robert Evans Talbott, a respected member of Chesterfield Fire and EMS; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Robert Evans Talbott as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
