Celebrating the life of the Honorable Robert G. Woodson, Jr.

WHEREAS, the Honorable Robert G. Woodson, Jr., a retired judge of the 10th Judicial District of Virginia, died in 2025; and

WHEREAS, Robert Woodson earned a bachelor's degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1972 and a law degree from the University of Richmond in 1975; and

WHEREAS, Robert Woodson was admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth in 1976 and initially worked as an attorney in private practice in Cumberland County; and

WHEREAS, Robert Woodson served as the Commonwealth's Attorney for Cumberland County before he was appointed as a general district court judge in the 10th Judicial District of Virginia in 1995; and

WHEREAS, Robert Woodson presided over the court with great fairness and wisdom until his retirement in 2019 at the age of 70; and

WHEREAS, Robert Woodson served Cumberland County and the Commonwealth with the utmost integrity, dedication, and distinction; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of the Honorable Robert G. Woodson, Jr., an esteemed jurist in Southside Virginia; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of the Honorable Robert G. Woodson, Jr., as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
