Celebrating the life of Demonté Lamont Tillery.

WHEREAS, Demonté Lamont Tillery, a beloved father and cherished member of the Suffolk community, died on September 13, 2024; and
WHEREAS, affectionately known by family and friends as “Monté,” Demonté Lamont Tillery was a member of the Class of 2013 at Lakeland High School in Suffolk, where he excelled as a linebacker on the football team; and
WHEREAS, inspired by his grandfather, Demonté Tillery trained to become a commercial truck driver, acquired his commercial truck driver's license, and worked dedicatedly for several distinguished companies, including Western Express, Tyson Foods, and Good Guys Enterprise; and
WHEREAS, Demonté Tillery had recently accepted a scholarship to play football at Livingstone College and had great aspirations for his future; and
WHEREAS, Demonté Tillery's quiet and friendly demeanor endeared him to all who knew him, and he took great joy in spending quality time with his family; and
WHEREAS, guided throughout his life by his faith, Demonté Tillery was a longtime member of Macedonia African Methodist Episcopal Church in Suffolk, where he had served in the youth ministry and routinely attended Vacation Bible School; and
WHEREAS, preceded in death by his children, Kodah and Kali, Demonté Tillery will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his children, Adyn, Tristen, King, Kyn'lee, and Demonté, Jr.; his mother, Tonya; his brother, Kcon; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Demonté Lamont Tillery, a treasured member of the Suffolk community whose light brightened countless lives; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Demonté Lamont Tillery as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
