Commending Griffin McDorman Yow.

WHEREAS, Griffin McDorman Yow, a native of Clifton, represented the Commonwealth at the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad in Paris, France, as a member of Team USA in the Men's Olympic Football Tournament; and

WHEREAS, Griffin Yow began playing soccer with the Southwestern Youth Association in Fairfax County when he was three years old and has been playing professionally since the age of 16, when he joined the U-17 Men's Youth National Team and signed a contract with D.C. United in Major League Soccer (MLS); and

WHEREAS, Griffin Yow made his debut with D.C. United in March 2019 as the team's 12th homegrown player and was the youngest player to appear in MLS during the 2019 season; and

WHEREAS, in 2022, Griffin Yow transferred to KVC Westerlo, which had recently been promoted to the top league in Belgium; he joined the team's starting 11 in 2023 and has made dozens of appearances for the club since that time; and

WHEREAS, Griffin Yow returned to international play for the United States in 2024 as a member of the U-23 Men's National Soccer Team and was subsequently selected as a member of Team USA for the 2024 Summer Olympics; and

WHEREAS, the United States Men's National Team finished second in the group stage and advanced to the quarterfinals, with Griffin Yow appearing in every game; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Griffin McDorman Yow for his performance as a member of the United States Men's National Soccer Team at the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Griffin McDorman Yow as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his outstanding athletic achievements and best wishes for the future.
