SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 329

Commending the Alexandria Little League Intermediate Division baseball team.

WHEREAS, the Alexandria Little League Intermediate Division baseball team won the Virginia State Little League state championship on July 10, 2024; and

WHEREAS, in the state tournament, which included eight district winners, Alexandria Little League defeated the Central Accomack Little League, Broadway Community Little League, and Hampton York Little League baseball teams; and

WHEREAS, Alexandria Little League dominated the tournament final rematch against Broadway Community Little League, winning by a score of 10–0; and

WHEREAS, throughout the tournament, the members of Alexandria Little League demonstrated focus, determination, and good sportsmanship; and

WHEREAS, as state champions, Alexandria Little League advanced to the Little League Southeast Region Tournament in North Carolina from July 19 through July 22, 2024; and

WHEREAS, the successful season was a tribute to the skill and hard work of all the young athletes, the leadership and guidance of coaches and staff, and the passionate support of parents, families, and the entire Alexandria community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Alexandria Little League Intermediate Division baseball team on winning the 2024 Virginia State Little League state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Mike Coughlin, manager of the Alexandria Little League Intermediate Division baseball team, as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the team's achievements.
