AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE

A BILL to require the Department of Housing and Community Development to convene a stakeholder advisory group to evaluate the unsafe structure provisions of the Uniform Statewide Building Code.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. That the Department of Housing and Community Development shall convene a stakeholder advisory group during the 2024 code development cycle to evaluate the unsafe structure provisions of the Uniform Statewide Building Code (12VAC5-63), Part III, the Virginia Property Maintenance Code, to determine if any improvements to the unsafe structure provisions are recommended. Any code change proposals or recommendations developed by the advisory group shall be submitted to the Board of Housing and Community Development for consideration during the 2024 code development cycle.
