Celebrating the life of Stephen M. Quillen.

WHEREAS, Stephen M. Quillen, an esteemed attorney in Lebanon who served the community for more than six decades, died on January 14, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Stephen “Steve” M. Quillen grew up in Lebanon and graduated from the Virginia Episcopal School before earning a bachelor's degree and a law degree from Washington and Lee University; and
WHEREAS, Steve Quillen served the nation as a member of the United States Army Judge Advocate General's Corps from 1957 to 1968, retiring with the rank of captain; and
WHEREAS, Steve Quillen pursued a career in law and was a third-generation member of the firm Quillen & Quillen, following in the footsteps of his father, Ira M. Quillen, and grandfather, S.B. Quillen; and
WHEREAS, Steve Quillen was highly admired for his breadth of expertise and served on the Virginia Board of Bar Examiners for 36 years, including service as president from 2014 until his retirement in 2019; and
WHEREAS, predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Nancy, and one son, Richard, Steve Quillen will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his children, Ira and Suzanne, and their families; his brother, Bill, and his family; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Stephen M. Quillen, a respected attorney in Lebanon; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Stephen M. Quillen as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
