Celebrating the life of Thomas Clyde Evelyn.

WHEREAS, Thomas Clyde Evelyn, a successful entrepreneur and a beloved husband, father, and grandfather in New Kent County, died on July 29, 2024; and
WHEREAS, Thomas “Tom” Clyde Evelyn graduated magna cum laude from the University of Richmond and returned to Providence Forge, where he applied his knowledge and insights to the family timber business, C.H. Evelyn Piling Company; and
WHEREAS, Tom Evelyn's entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Charles City Forest Products in Charles City County; the company grew and expanded under his outstanding leadership, and several of his children followed in his footsteps by joining the business; and
WHEREAS, Tom Evelyn's multiple ventures became integral parts of the local economy in the region, creating jobs and new opportunities for local residents; and
WHEREAS, outside of his career, Tom Evelyn was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and anything that allowed him to reconnect with nature; and
WHEREAS, Tom Evelyn especially loved spending time with family and friends, and his proudest accomplishments were those as a husband, father, and grandfather; and
WHEREAS, Tom Evelyn will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 48 years, Emily; his children, Thomas, Patrick, Emily, and Caroline, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Thomas Clyde Evelyn, a respected business owner and highly admired resident of New Kent County; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Thomas Clyde Evelyn as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
