Celebrating the life of Jeannette Windsor Howard.

WHEREAS, Jeannette Windsor Howard, a woman of deep faith who touched countless lives in Charles City County and the Richmond region through her kindness and grace, died on March 16, 2024; and

WHEREAS, a native of Richmond, Jeannette Howard developed a passion for music at a young age and played piano for the congregation of New Bridge Baptist Church when she was only eight years old; and

WHEREAS, after graduating from the School of Nursing at what was then known as the Medical College of Virginia (MCV), Jeannette Howard worked on MCV's labor and delivery floor until 1953, when she began serving as a nurse in her husband's new medical practice in Charles City County; and

WHEREAS, Jeannette Howard lived her faith through her actions and was a compassionate volunteer who supported many worthy causes; she volunteered her time at St. Joseph's Villa, knitted hats for babies in a neonatal intensive care unit, coordinated neighborhood Christmas nativity scenes, and served as a missionary to communities in Antigua and Romania; and

WHEREAS, outside of her career Jeannette Howard cultivated her musical talents as the organist at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and Kentwood Heights Baptist Church, a singer in a community choir, and a music instructor for Vacation Bible School classes in the region; and

WHEREAS, Jeannette Howard had most recently enjoyed fellowship and worship with the congregation of Tsena Commocko Baptist Church in Providence Forge; and

WHEREAS, predeceased by her husband, Farrar, Jeannette Howard will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her children, Wakie, Sam, Martin, Brad, Bruce, and Ruth, and their families, and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Jeannette Windsor Howard, a vibrant member of the Greater Richmond community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Jeannette Windsor Howard as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for her memory.
