O. The Department shall be reimbursed for lost revenue resulting from license exemptions or free or partially discounted fees to hunt, fish, or trap that are established by the General Assembly on or after July 1, 2025. The Department shall maintain an accounting of lost revenue described in this section for each fiscal year and shall submit the accounting to the Department of Accounts on or before August 1. Within 30 days of the receipt of the accounting from the Department, the Department of Accounts shall pay the actual amount of lost revenue for the fiscal year into the Game Protection Fund established in § 29.1-101. The accounting maintained under this section, and any other records relating to the accounting, shall be subject to audit by the State Comptroller.
