Commending Justin Dowell.

WHEREAS, Justin Dowell, a native of Virginia Beach, represented the Commonwealth at the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad in Paris, France, competing for Team USA in the men's BMX freestyle park event; and

WHEREAS, Justin Dowell began participating in BMX cycling with his brothers after the construction of a new skate park in Virginia Beach; and

WHEREAS, Justin Dowell has since represented the Commonwealth and the United States at multiple international freestyle BMX competitions, winning a gold medal in the BMX freestyle park event at the 2018 UCI Urban Cycling World Championships; and

WHEREAS, Justin Dowell has become known for his signature trick the “Twix” and is currently the only rider who performs this trick in competition; and

WHEREAS, Justin Dowell was selected as a member of Team USA in June 2024 and finished seventh place overall in the BMX freestyle park event in the 2024 Summer Olympics; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Justin Dowell hereby be commended for representing the Commonwealth at the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad in 2024; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Justin Dowell as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his athletic achievements and best wishes for the future.
