Commending Wesley Brown.

WHEREAS, Wesley Brown, owner of Brown's Automotive in Smithfield and an active and engaged member of the Hampton Roads community, was named Citizen of the Year by the Kiwanis Club of Smithfield on December 6, 2024; and
WHEREAS, Wesley Brown joined the Kiwanis Club of Smithfield in 1989 and quickly became a valued member of the organization by co-chairing its annual toy store, which provides toys and books to hundreds of children in the care of the Isle of Wight County Department of Social Services; and
WHEREAS, Wesley Brown became president of the Kiwanis Club of Smithfield ten years after joining the organization, and he has also previously served as lieutenant governor of two different Kiwanis divisions; and
WHEREAS, in 2001, Wesley Brown spearheaded the Kiwanis Club of Smithfield's inaugural Kiwanis Fishing Clinic, a longstanding annual event that teaches children water safety and the fundamentals of fishing, which today draws hundreds of young people and their families from throughout the Hampton Roads region; and
WHEREAS, in addition to serving with the Kiwanis Club of Smithfield, Wesley Brown has also been a member of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Hilton in Newport News and the Kiwanis Club of Carrollton in Isle of Wight County, which he founded in 2018; and
WHEREAS, Wesley Brown acquired valuable skills for overseeing the Kiwanis Club of Smithfield's initiatives as the longtime owner and operator of Brown's Automotive, a car repair and maintenance business that he has owned since 1991; and
WHEREAS, with an unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of children in his community, Wesley Brown has embodied the ideals of Kiwanis International and is deserving of the esteem and admiration of all Virginians; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Wesley Brown hereby be commended for being named the Kiwanis Club of Smithfield's 2024 Citizen of the Year; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Wesley Brown as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's appreciation and respect for his exceptional legacy of service.
