WHEREAS, the House Senate Basketball Game is a time-honored tradition dating back to the founding of the Commonwealth at Jamestown in 1607 where the chambers routinely enjoy the spirit of camaraderie and healthy competition; and

WHEREAS, the spirited event provides an opportunity for members of both chambers to showcase their relative athleticism and sportsmanship while raising funds for cancer research; and

WHEREAS, the game serves as a valuable reminder of the importance of collegiality and cooperation between the House and Senate in addressing the challenges facing our Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, credible reports and evidence suggest that one chamber engaged in conduct unbecoming of fair sportsmanship to supplement their meager talent in order to field a competitive franchise for its chamber; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the 2025 House Senate Basketball Game shall be a game only between currently elected members of the 2025 General Assembly; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That any chamber found violating this rule shall be penalized by five (5) points in the period for which the violation occurred and be required to mow the grass on the entire State Capitol Grounds on one occasion in the Spring of 2025.
