SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 196

Commending Producers Peanut Company.

Agreed to by the Senate, January 16, 2025

WHEREAS, Producers Peanut Company, a Suffolk-based enterprise dedicated to delivering high-quality peanut products to customers around the world, celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2024; and

WHEREAS, Producers Peanut Company was officially established on February 27, 1924, and was acquired by the owners of Pond Brothers Shelling shortly thereafter; and

WHEREAS, James R. Pond, Jr., who succeeded his grandfather and father as chief executive officer, has ably led Producers Peanut Company for several years, employing his background as an avionics field service engineer to enhance the company's operations and bolster its reputation; and

WHEREAS, Producers Peanut Company makes an impressive array of peanut products, including its Peanut Kids brand natural peanut butters and other branded and private label retail items, which the company ships throughout the United States and to more than 20 countries; and

WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Producers Peanut Company over the past century are a testament to the visionary leadership of the company's executives and the hard work and determination of its staff; and

WHEREAS, Producers Peanut Company has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to both its customers and its traditions of excellence throughout its history, earning the esteem and admiration of all Virginians; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Producers Peanut Company hereby be commended for its achievements on the occasion of the company's 100th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to James R. Pond, Jr., chief executive officer of Producers Peanut Company, as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's high regard for the company's history and its contributions to the Commonwealth.
