Commending Marie Nave.

WHEREAS, Marie Nave, a skilled and highly experienced hair stylist, retired in 2024 after more than five decades of professional achievements and service to countless clients in and around Fredericksburg; and

WHEREAS, Marie Nave grew up in Fredericksburg and began working at her late mother's downtown hair salon, Marci's, when she was only 14 years old; she learned her craft by watching and assisting other hair stylists and officially earned her beautician's license three years later; and

WHEREAS, for several years, Marie Nave followed her husband, Gary, to different military postings and found work as a hair stylist on military bases or in local communities in Virginia, Georgia, Alaska, and Germany; and

WHEREAS, Marie and Gary Nave settled in the Rhoadesville area of Orange County in the 1990s, and she quickly developed a loyal following of long-term clients while working at area hair salons, including Creative Clippers in Spotsylvania County; and

WHEREAS, over the course of her 54-year career, Marie Nave witnessed significant changes in fashion and hair styling trends, but always went above and beyond to help her clients leave their appointments feeling confident and proud of their new look; and

WHEREAS, Marie Nave found true joy in her work and built strong, personal relationships with generations of clients, learning as much about their lives and families as she did about their hair styling needs; and

WHEREAS, Marie Nave was also a trusted friend to her colleagues, and she enlivened any salon with her infectious laughter; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Marie Nave on the occasion of her retirement as a hair stylist; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Marie Nave as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for her decades of service to her clients and contributions to the community in the Fredericksburg region.
