Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. The Department of State Police shall convene a work group of relevant stakeholders to review the property damage threshold for submitting a motor vehicle accident report to the Department of Motor Vehicles as required pursuant to § 46.2-373 of the Code of Virginia. The work group shall consider the (i) increase in cost of vehicle damage since the threshold was raised to $1,500 in 2009; (ii) benefits of accessing motor vehicle accident reports through the Department of Motor Vehicles; and (iii) burden on law-enforcement agencies to generate and submit such reports. The Department of State Police shall submit a report of its findings and recommendations to the Chairmen of the House and Senate Committees on Transportation by November 1, 2025.
