Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. That, in addition to any notices required pursuant to subsection E of § 15.2-2202 and subsection B of § 56-46.1 of the Code of Virginia, any electric utility that is responsible for the construction, operation, or maintenance of an electric transmission line of 138 kilovolts or more within a locality shall provide written notice to the governing body of such locality at least 180 days prior to the construction of such transmission line. Such notices shall include a written description of the proposed route for the transmission line, as well as a map or sketch of the proposed route, including a digital geographic information system map provided by the electric utility showing the location of the proposed route.
