Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 22.1-131.2 as follows:

§ 22.1-131.2. Certain private schools; certain memoranda of understanding with local law enforcement permitted.

The administration of any private elementary or secondary school in the Commonwealth that has a campus that is (i) located wholly within one locality but (ii) contiguous to another locality may enter into a memorandum of understanding with the local law-enforcement agency in such contiguous locality governing such agency's response to any law-enforcement emergency involving any immediate threat to life or public safety on such campus in accordance with the authority granted to the local law-enforcement agency pursuant to § 15.2-1724 to so respond. Any such memorandum of understanding shall provide for immediate notification of the emergency via the public safety answering point in the locality in which the school is located to the contiguous locality.
