Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 18.2-247.1 as follows:

§ 18.2-247.1. Venue.

Notwithstanding the provisions of § 19.2-244, a prosecution for the distribution of a Schedule I or II drug in violation of § 18.2-248 or 18.2-248.03, where an overdose death occurred from such distribution, may be had in any county or city in which (i) any act in furtherance of the crime was committed or (ii) the deceased person was located.
